Resident Evil: Vendetta Coming to Theaters

Sony and Fathom Events are coming together to release the CGI animated film on the big screen for one night only.

Resident Evil fans have the chance to check out the new computer-animated movie Resident Evil: Vendetta in theaters for one night.

Sony and Fathom Events are coming together to release the film on the big screen in North America. Fans can catch the movie in theaters on June 19. The film will also be released internationally on May 27.

Additionally, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter's home entertainment release was announced today by Sony. The last film in the live-action series will hit Digital release on May 2 and DVD/Blu-ray on May 16. That release will include a behind the scenes clip about Vendetta, but you can check that out right here:

Resident Evil: Vendetta is the follow-up to 2012's Resident Evil: Damnation and 2008's Resident Evil: Degeneration. The theatrical release is a joint venture between Sony and Fathom Events, with Fathom Events CEO John Rubey calling Vendetta "scarier and more thrill-inducing" than its predecessors. Vendetta follows Leon S. Kennedy (Matt Mercer), Chris Redfield (Kevin Dorman) and Rebecca Chambers (Erin Cahill). The film is produced by Marza Animation Planet (Space Pirate Captain Harlock), executive produced by Takashi Shimizu (The Grudge), written by Makoto Fukami (Psycho Pass), and directed by Takanori Tsujimoto (Bushido Man).

U.S. film-goers can buy tickets beginning March 31 or at participating theater box offices. Canadian fans can grab their tickets a week earlier on March 24. For all other regions, check the Park Circus website.

Head to Fathom's Resident Evil: Vendetta page for more on the release.

As for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, the film features Milla Jovovich back for one last go as the zombie slayer Alice, who is forced to return to The Hive where her story began. Franchise regulars Ali Larter (Final Destination), Shawn Roberts (Resident Evil: Retribution) and Iain Glen (Game of Thrones), alongside all-new cast members Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black), Eoin Macken (The Night Shift) and William Levy (The Single Moms Club), all join in on the fun.

Bonus materials on the Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, DVD and digital releases include two behind-the-scenes featurettes: In “Explore the Hive,” fans receive a deeper understanding of the Hive and what Alice and her team endured to save mankind, and in “The Badass Trinity & The Women of Resident Evil,” the female heroes discuss how their roles empower women everywhere. Bonus materials on the Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD and digital releases include a sneak peek at Resident Evil: Vendetta (see above!), a featurette exploring the “Stunts & Weaponry” highlighted in the film, and “Retaliation Mode,” a way for fans to extend their movie watching experience. Viewers can turn on “Retaliation Mode” and enjoy more than 30 minutes with Milla Jovovich and director Paul W.S. Anderson where the pair break down pivotal scenes from the movie and discuss the world of Resident Evil.
