Pokemon Go Event Makes Water Pokemon More Common

Plus get a new Magikarp hat!

Niantic has announced a new Water Festival global event in Pokemon Go that increases the likelihood of encountering water Pokemon.

As announced on Niantic’s official site, from today until March 29, spawns of Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and other water Pokemon are increased in all areas, and Johto water Pokemon are more likely to appear in areas where water Pokemon normally spawn.

Players will also be able to get a new Magikarp hat for their avatar.

Yesterday, a new update was announced for Pokemon Go that guarantees rare Pokemon evolution items with every seven-day PokeStop streak players complete. Evolution items were introduced in February alongside 80 Pokemon from the Johto region.

Previous Pokemon Go events included increased chances of meeting ghost Pokemon for Halloween, double experience for Thanksgiving, free egg incubators for Christmas, and double candy for Valentine’s Day. Last month, Niantic also gave Pikachu a special festive party hat to celebrate Pokemon Day.
