The long awaited changes to Bastion were applied in Overwatch's latest patch this week, but it seems like everyone's favorite / least favorite battle robot is going to be changed again.
Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan took to the Battle.net forums yesterday to thank everyone for the feedback (even though the majority of it hasn't been great), and to let everyone know that more updates are in the works.
"We know Bastion is a big focus for everyone right now," wrote Kaplan. "[...] we'll make some changes to Bastion and put them up on the PTR this morning. We'd love to hear your feedback about those changes when they go up. I don't have details right now because we're still making the changes!"
Kaplan goes on to talk about the actual meta in competitive play versus the "perceived meta," citing a fact from Season 3 in which the perceived meta was that Lucio and Ana were the only viable healers, when in fact Mercy was the fifth most picked hero in the entire game. "We cannot just magically make Bastion get picked more so the stats look pretty and not make changes to make him more viable at the same time."
Finally, Kaplan finishes up with his own thoughts on Bastion. "Over the past few nights I've played with, as and against Bastion. My perception is that he is a little too powerful right now." However, he says Bastion isn't the "I Win button," and that although the hero isn't perfect, "there is a high amount of hyperbole around this particular situation."
This week's patch also added a game browser, allowing you to search for and create custom game types. Yesterday, the new hero, Orisa, was officially announced after a week of teases.
