Netflix and Streaming Services Will Come to Switch 'in Time'

Full stream ahead.

President and COO of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime, has answered some questions about streaming services on the Switch, offering a slightly more positive statement than in the past.

In an interview with The Washington Post today, Fils-Aime once again addressed the issue: "We’re talking to a range of companies about other services, companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon — things that will come in time."

Currently, there no streaming services on Nintendo's new console, however the company has previously stated video streaming is under consideration for a future update.

Fils-Aime was keen to push the idea that the Nintendo Switch is a gaming platform, first and foremost. He said streaming services are "non differentiators" when it comes to the Switch versus other consoles. "What differentiates us is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch and what you can play. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform."

He also said potential buyers should be looking towards the future when he was asked about the meagre launch lineup. "My answer is to look at the games that have been announced and are in development, and that should drive your purchase decision," said Fils-Aime.

The Nintendo Switch has had a successful launch, breaking records in Japan, the US, and in Europe. You can check out IGN's review of the Switch to see what we think of Nintendo's latest console.
