17 Mass Effect: Andromeda Multiplayer Tips and Strategies

Mass Effect: Andromeda's main multiplayer is a wave-based team shooter that features various objectives and three enemy types. Selecting Quick Match and choosing your difficulty (Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Random) will put you in a match with others on one of five maps against the kett, Remnant, or outlaws. Your team is then challenged to survive seven waves of various missions.

Below you'll find tips for the multiplayer along with catalogued information of the store and character options. Scroll to the bottom of the page for information on how to earn free mission funds.

Make sure to customize your loadout. For faster recharge times on your abilities you can select lighter weapons like a pistol / assault rifle combo. The base Avenger / Predator will give you a 100% recharge speed, but a sniper rifle like the viper and the predator pistol for example will give you a 25% penalty meaning you can use your abilities less often.

When your character levels up don't neglect passive skills. These are the last two abilities in the menu, and while they're not as flashy as the other skills, they'll help you survive longer and be more proficient in combat.

Add mods if you have them! Your mods are account wide so you can apply them to each of your weapons if they're available.

Make sure your team is balanced with different roles. You’ll want at least one tech and one biotic.

If you’re queuing alone often be sure to level multiple characters. You’ll want to avoid playing the same character as someone else.

Find ammo crates early. You’ll want to know where they are quickly in later waves. Try to camp out around them when dealing with the bigger enemies.

If you have two weapons equipped you can swap between them by holding the reload button.

Mobility is key in late waves. Enemies swarm if you aren’t constantly moving, and you’ll often have to go up against big enemies that will block you in rooms.

Work with teammates to perform power combos. Each character has a "primer" and "detonator" but if you hit an unshielded or unarmored red bar enemy with incinerate another player can detonate for a combo with an ability like Singularity or Lance for a devastating tech combo.

If your character has primer or detonator skills they'll have special icons to indicate that next to the ability. For instance, the image below shows what looks like an explosion on the far left skill to show it's a detonator, and the circle on the far right skill shows it's a primer.

It’s good to pair up with a teammate or two, but don’t stay too close to each other. It’s possible to block each other in an area if you’re surrounded by enemies.

Infiltrators with the tactical cloak can revive other players while cloaked. They can also interact with objectives while cloaked.

Fiends and Ascended are bad news, especially in the maps' smaller areas. They can both kill your character with one hit if they get too close, and your teammates won't get a chance to revive you. Work with your team to take them out.

Destroyers are much easier to take down with biotics since they have tough shields. If you’re not playing a biotic, have a teammate who is join you in attacking it.

Atlas mechs have a weak canister on their back that, when exposed, allow you to do more damage to it than normal.

Complete early stages faster by assigning members of your team to certain parts of the map, but stay closer together in the late game to help revive each other.

Each time you use one of your four equipped items it pulls from your inventory. Use them wisely or you'll run out of items quickly. Try to save them for APEX Strike Team Missions that reward the valuable Mission Fund credits.

If you're looking how to earn free mission funds in Mass Effect: Andromeda, you'll need to visit the Strike Team missions. There are three APEX missions (one bronze, one silver, and one gold) that award players a set number of free Mission Funds. They're only available for a limited time, and once you complete one you can't do it again until they're added to the Strike Team menu.

You can also earn mission funds by sending a strike team on an APEX mission. They'll complete (or fail) a mission within a specified time. Access the Strike Team terminal on the Tempest or in Nexus Operations in the campaign to manage their missions and collect rewards.
