Movie fans were in for a strange bit of news this week when it became apparent that a trailer for the upcoming film Lifereused a piece of footage from 2007's Spider-Man 3. But as it turns out, this practice is more common than you might expect. Plenty of films have borrowed or reused footage from older projects, whether to save time and money or to plug a few holes.
Don't believe us? Check out our gallery of 13 major films that reused old footage.
Eagle-eyed Reddit user toomuchsoull first established the shared connection between Life and Spider-Man 3. "I used to watch Spider-man 3 a lot as a kid before I realized how terrible it is. Also I have a pretty good memory for small details like that," he wrote on the Reddit thread discussing his discovery.
It makes you wonder how many other major films have done the same thing without viewers even noticing.
Life opens in theaters on March 24, 2017 while the next Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man: Homecoming, is slated for a July 7, 2017 release.
