New York Comic-Con will soon be upon us once again, and that means it's time to delve into our annual preview of what we expect will be the best and most exciting happenings at the show. NYCC is always a great showcase of awesome TV shows, exciting video games, epic movies and the best of the best in comics -- and 2017 is shaping up to be no different.
Let's start today with the three movie events we’re most excited to see at this year’s NYCC, and be sure to check back throughout the week for what we're looking forward to in TV, comics, and games too...
Panel: October 6th at 12 p.m. ET
The biggest film at NYCC by far is Universal’s Pacific Rim: Uprising, the John Boyega and Scott Eastwood-starring follow up to 2013’s Pacific Rim. We’ll bet that the first trailer for Uprising will make its debut at the movie’s panel in Madison Square Garden, so make sure to keep an eye out on Friday, October 6th.
We recently spoke to Boyega about Jaeger "upgrades" in the film and how the movie will portray a different way of fighting the Kaiju. He said, "We've got better upgrades. The robots are moving much more swift. Yeah, we're like ballerinas up in there, it's fantastic." Click here to read the full story.
Panel: October 8th at 10:30 a.m. ET
Warner Bros.’ DC Universe animated films are celebrating their 10th anniversary in a big way at New York Comic Con. In addition to the world premiere of the Adam West and William Shatner-starring Batman vs. Two-Face, we’ll also be getting our first look at the new animated movie, Gotham By Gaslight, based on the popular Elseworlds tale.
Batman vs. Two-Face is a sequel to last year's Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, the animated film which brought the classic West TV series of the 1960s back to life. It also is the late West's last appearance as Batman, so it's sure to be worth checking out.
Panel: October 5th at 6:30 p.m. ET
Keanu Reeves stars and produces the upcoming sci-fi film Replicas, about a neuroscientist who will stop at nothing to bring his family back to life after they’re killed in a car accident. We’ve been excited about this movie ever since it was quickly snatched up for distribution at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival, so we can't wait to get our first look at it at NYCC.
New York Comic-Con takes place from October 5th to 8th this year at the Javits Center in Midtown Manhattan. Be sure to check back at IGN for the rest of our previews of the event, and of course for our coverage straight from the show floor once it starts!
