Don’t get too excited, but the developer of Super Meat Boy may be working on some sort of metroidvania game, though it would still be years away.
Earlier today, a tweet from the official Team Meat Twitter account showed the developer excited about playing Metroid: Samus Returns. Another Twitter user responded by saying it “would be so epic” if Team Meat made a metroidvania themselves.
Team Meat retweeted that message, adding “I think you'll be very happy in a few years…”
In terms of teases, it’s not much, but it sounds like Team Meat is hinting that they may be working on a metroidvania of their own. Granted, the “in a few years” part of that definitely tells us not to hold our breath, as it’s likely still very early in development. We've reached out to Team Meat for further details.
Team Meat is currently gearing up for the release of Super Meat Boy Forever sometime next year, ut the developer’s Twitter bio says “Working on Super Meat Boy Forever for PC/consoles/mobile and other secret things!”, so they’ve definitely got something else cooking.
