Picross S for Nintendo Switch Announced

The puzzle series is only a week away on Switch.

Nintendo's long-running puzzle series is making its way to the Nintendo Switch with Picross S — and you won't have to wait long to play it.

Developer Jupiter has announced, via Eurogamer, that Picross S will be released for the Switch on September 28 for $7.99.

The latest iteration of the puzzle series will include 300 puzzles and a local co-op mode.

Picross is a grid-based puzzle game in which players fill in the grid based on numbers along the sides of each grid. Those numbers are clues to how many squares in each row or column need to be filled in, but not which specifically — players must use the numbers given to determine what those squares are.

Picross S will offer the 2D version of the puzzle format, but Jupier most recently released Picross 3D Round 2 for the Nintendo 3DS last year, which presented its puzzles in the shape of a cube rather than a flat cube. Nintendo has released a number of Picross games for both the DS and 3DS, as well as themed editions like Pokemon Picross for the 3DS. The first entry on Nintendo platforms from developer Jupiter came on the Game Boy with Mario's Picross.
