Expendables Writer Joins Wonder Woman 2

The superhero sequel hits theaters in December 2019.

The Expendables co-writer Dave Callaham has joined the Wonder Woman 2 writing team.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Callaham joins Patty Jenkins and Geoff Johns, who've been "working on a treatment for several months." Callaham's other writing credits include work on 2014's Godzilla and the 2005 big screen adaptation of Doom.

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. announced Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is returning to direct, co-write, and produce the DC superhero sequel. Gal Gadot will also return to reprise her titular role.

While official plot details have yet to be revealed, the sequel will reportedly jump forward in time and take place during the 1980s toward the end of the Cold War.

Wonder Woman 2 will be released in theaters on December 13, 2019, though Gadot's character can be seen next when Justice League opens on November 17.

The first film, released earlier this year, was a massive success, both critically and commercially. Wonder Woman went on to become the highest-grossing DCEU film domestically and the highest-grossing live-action movie ever by a female director. Wonder Woman is also now the top-earning superhero origin film and this summer's highest-grossing movie overall.
