Destiny 2: How to Get Raid Ready for Leviathan

This page contains information on the Raid activities in Destiny 2.

The first Raid, Leviathan, is launching on Wednesday, September 13th 2017.

The Leviathan raid will likely boast a recommended Power Level of 260 - 280, though it's always better to have a higher rating for such a difficult mission. Use these tips to maximize your Power Level before attempting the Raid.

See our guide on How to Reach Max Level for more great tips on increasing your XP and Power Levels!

After completing The Red War campaign (the main story questline), the Vanguard and various vendors will provide you with Milestone challenges. These include completing Patrol missions, participating in Crucible matches and accomplishing Challenges on each world. Once the Milestone has been achieved, you can receive "Powerful Gear" as a reward.

Unlike Faction/Vendor reputation rewards, which have a Power cap of 265, the Powerful Gear will drop Legendary or Exotic items with a Power rating based on your current level. To maximize your gains, wait to redeem these Milestones until after you've reached a high light level - we recommend anywhere from 265 and up.

Exotic Quests will unlock powerful Exotic Weapons (and sometimes Legendary ones, too!). Be sure to wait until you reach at least Power Level 260-65 to attempt to collect the Rat King, Mida Multi-Tool or Sturm.

While grinding through Public Events or Strikes may seem like a waste of time after you reach Power Level 265, you can still dismantle any of the rare or legendary items you get and turn them in to the Gunsmith for a legendary reward.

While these may not have an inherently higher Power Level than your currently-equipped gear, you may receive legendary mods that can add a few points to your Power Level, or be dismantled into Mod Components that can be repurposed as new mods.

If you’re truly in the mood to grind for your Power, consider starting a second character of the same class as your main.

Once you reach Lv 20 and begin to collect exotic engrams, they’ll drop with a Power rating based on that of the highest-rated exotic possessed by your main character of the same class. This means if you have an exotic rifle with a Power rating of 270 for your main character, while your second Hunter may only have a Power Level of 220, that exotic engram should decrypt based on the item at 270.
