Apple Watch Series 3 Announced

And Watch OS 4 is coming later this month.

Apple has unveiled the Apple Watch Series 3 during its September 12 event.

Watch Series 3 has cellular built in to this new generation of Apple's wearables, freeing wearers from needing to carry their phone with them as well. Series 3 will also be able to stream Apple Music directly from the device.

"We believe built-in cellular makes Series 3 the ultimate expression of Apple Watch," Jeff Williams said during Apple's event.

The Series 3 line also has a custom-designed wi-fi chip, as well as a built-in barometric altimeter. New Series 3 watches are the same size as the Watch Series 2.

Apple has also revealed Watch OS 4, which features smart activity coaching and improvements to the frequently used heart rate monitoring app. OS 4 will be available on September 19.

Apple previously announced the Series 2 Watch at last year's Apple September event. The Series 2 came with a dual core processor that was 50% faster than before, a new GPU that can deliver twice the graphics performance, and built-in GPS.

Recently, Apple's line of wearables was used by the Boston Red Sox to cheat during a MLB game.

Apple Watch is now the number one watch brand in the world, according to Apple, surpassing Rolex.
