Images have surfaced that seem to reveal a never-produced Xbox brand smartwatch from Microsoft.
SuomiMobiili reports (via Neowin) that these images may depict the never released Xbox wearable that Microsoft was rumored to be developing back in 2013. The potential device was rumored to be slated for release in 2015 but instead, we saw the quite different-looking Microsoft Band hit shelves late 2014.
Depicted in the images is a square-faced watch with a 1.5-inch display complete with a heart rate monitor on the back. Apparently, this watch would have also supported magnetic charging and sync when connected with Surface tablets, as well as sporting replaceable watch bands.
Why this prototype features Xbox branding is unclear - although it could have been designed to interact with the now-discontinued Xbox Fitness app - but for now Microsoft seems to have turned its attention to producing powerful consoles rather than wearables, with the Xbox One X breaking pre-order records for the company.
