PS4 App Icons Get New Look With Firmware Update

Sporting a sleek, flat design.

The latest firmware update for PlayStation 4 released today, bringing with it a handful of changes, including a new look for the console's various app icons.

While Sony's patch notes for system software update version 4.70 don't specify the change, Polygon noticed the icons for PlayStation Store, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Now and several others now feature a flat design. Check out the comparison below:

In addition to the new icons, update 4.70 "improves system performance" and now allows match results for each player to be viewed in tournaments.

In less than two weeks' time, Sony will offer a peek at what's on the horizon for PS4 owners with its PlayStation E3 Media Showcase. The conference, which will be broadcast live in over 85 theaters across the United States, Canada and Latin America, will take place on Monday, June 12 at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET/June 13 at 2 a.m. BST/June 13 at 11 a.m. AEST.

Don't miss IGN's Road to E3 2017 series to find out which titles we hope to see from Sony at this year's expo.
