Animaniacs Reboot Reportedly in Development

Yakko, Wakoo and Dot may soon return.

An Animaniacs reboot is reportedly in the works.

IndieWire reports Warner Bros. Animation and Amblin Television are developing a new version of the beloved 90s cartoon after its recent surge in popularity on Netflix. Steven Spielberg, who developed the original, is expected to work on the reboot. The series is still said to be early in development and doesn't have a network attached yet.

When asked about the potential reboot Warner Bros. declined to comment.

Animaniacs ran for a total of 99 episodes and originally aired on Fox Kids from 1993 to 1995, before moving to Kids' WB from 1995 to 1998. The series won eight Daytime Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award, and spawned a spinoff in Pinky and the Brain.

The series featured a variety of different segments and characters, including the Warner siblings Yakko, Wakoo and Dot, as well as Pinky and the Brain. The original voice cast includes Rob Paulsen, Jess Harnell, Tress MacNeille, Maurice LaMarche and Sherri Stoner.
