A genetically modified gorilla (or monkey) like Winston might be Overwatch's next hero.
Blizzard has posted a new Overwatch blog entry describing some of the events that took place on Horizon Lunar Colony, the home of Winston. Notably, it's revealed that Winston isn't the only specimen missing from the base. So is someone or something called Hammond.
In addition to the above image, Blizzard also released an email transmission from Horizon talking about Hammond. The scientist notes the specimen's shorter frame, saying, "I don't know why we ever thought it was a good idea to have smaller test subjects, I completely regret it."
For those that don't know, the genetically enhanced gorillas overthrew the scientists on Horizon in Overwatch lore. Winston escaped, and obviously Hammond is missing.
There's also the chance Blizzard is hinting at Horizon as a new map for the team-based shooter. Game director Jeff Kaplan has said that three new maps are coming to Overwatch this year, which are different from the arena maps released for the anniversary event.
Orisa was the last character added to Overwatch. Speaking of roster additions, Kaplan talked about a rejected "cat with a jetpack" hero for the game last month.
Even without a cute kitten, Overwatch has seen over 30 million players.
