Uncharted 4: A Thief's End's multiplayer content has been detailed on the PlayStation blog ahead of the game's May 10 release date.
Developer Naughty Dog implemented a new philosophy with its multiplayer content—and that includes making all Uncharted 4 multiplayer maps and modes free. Maps and modes will be available immediately, with all "vanity and gameplay in-game store items" unlockable through gameplay.

The decision was made in hopes the multiplayer community wouldn't be "fragmented" by differing DLC purchases. Naughty Dog will introduce Relics, "a new currency that can only be earned through gameplay." All DLC will be unlockable using Relics, so players invested in the game will be rewarded for playing.
Players will be able to complete daily challenges and win multiplayer matches to earn Relics. Relics will be used to buy Chests, which will drop items at random. There is no "pay-to-win" in Uncharted 4, though players who don't want to wait to earn Relics will be able to buy Uncharted Points to unlock in-game items.
Uncharted 4's first post-launch multiplayer DLC pack will be released in Summer 2016. New maps, weapons, and skins will arrive with a new game mode. In Autumn 2016, another DLC pack will drop—adding more maps, weapons, and co-op.
Winter 2017 and Spring 2017 will bring more DLC content to Uncharted 4's multiplayer.
As previewed during PAX, Uncharted 4 will launch with Plunder mode. Additionally, the game will include a Ranked playlist—with ranks ranging from Bronze III to Diamond I—along with a warm-up playlist, Command mode, Team Deathmatch.
