The New Mutants cast continues to expand, with two new roles being filled in the upcoming X-Men spinoff film.
IGN can confirm Rosario Dawson, who stars as Claire Temple in Marvel's Netflix series, including Daredevil, Luke Cage, and The Defenders, is in talks to star as Dr. Cecilia Reyes in the Fox X-Men film. IGN can also confirm that Henry Zaga, who starred as Brad in Netflix's 13 Reasons Why, will star as the mutant Sunspot in the film.
Dawson's Reyes, a doctor who has the ability to produce a protective bio-field around herself, will act in a mentor capacity to the titular New Mutants team, which director Josh Boone recently described as "a full-fledged horror film set within the X-Men universe."
Sunspot, meanwhile, a mutant Boone has previously teased as a member of the team, has the ability to harness and then use solar energy via his super strength.

Dawson and Zaga would join Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams and The Witch's Anya Taylor-Joy, who recently boarded the film as Wolfsbane and Magik, respectively. Boone has also teased that the lineup could include Cannonball and Warlock.
Boone will direct New Mutants for an April 13, 2018 release in theaters. It will be one of three X-Men films coming in 2018, with Deadpool 2 and Dark Phoenix also set to release in 2018.
THR first reported Dawson's involvement. EW first reported Zaga's casting.
