Respawn has detailed the offerings coming in its next Titanfall 2 DLC drop on May 30, 2017.
First up for grabs — and perhaps, importantly, up for free, too — is a new Titan, Monarch, a mid-range Vanguard class mech that can "upgrade itself on the battlefield through her unique Upgrade Core." Keep her ticking over long enough, and it'll eventually reach its "final form."
As it's made from the "salvaged, badly burnt remains of two Vanguard-class Titans", Monarch was designed for both armed recon, yet it's also flexible "through survival and support options, to serve many operational roles" too. And while there's an indication that it boasts an "impressive ability to draw power from enemy Titans to recharge her own shields, or the shields of her friendly Titans," the full details won't be unveiled until later today.
We'll also see a new map, Relic, dropped into rotation, described as "a worksite where Pilots have created clever wall running routes by hanging pieces of the wreckage between buildings. The map consists of the wreck of the Odyssey in the center of the map that splits the two town areas."
"Created with frontlines in mind," states Respawn's Jason "R3C0N54" Garza in a blog update, "the gameplay is all about assaulting and controlling the center and engaging in firefights from the great viewpoints of the ship against the varied defensible positions in the Town."
And that's not all.
"We worked on a collision pass for Crashsite, fixing around 100 instances of getting bumped, bonked, stuck or tripped up," Garza explained. "During the clean-up, we also wanted to experiment with more mobility options. To that end we’ve added 8 ziplines to get around the map faster and a few more wallrunning locations."
Also coming soon is a new execution, Now You See Me, which is a Cloak. And that's all Respawn is telling us.
For those of you prepared to put your money where your Titan is, there are also two new purchasable Prime Titans — Ronin and Tone — plus new nose art, camos, and callsigns.
Our review of Titanfall 2 gave it a 9, stating: "It’s rare that a sequel evolves on every part of the original concept so consistently for the better, but Titanfall 2 is that exception. Its feelgood movement is the foundation for both the engaging action and platforming gameplay of its strong campaign and its over-the-top competitive multiplayer."
