The creepy forest outside of Hogwarts castle has been re-created for a new wing inside the Warner Bros. Studio Tour - The Making of Harry Potter in Leavesden, England. Opened to the public last month, I took a walk through the wooded area and happened upon some familiar (and frightening) characters and creatures.
Click through the slideshow below to take a look at what’s inside. Of course those who want to save all the surprises and thrills for their own visit should be wary of spoilers (and giant spiders).
The Forbidden Forest is but one of numerous areas from the Harry Potter movies. There are countless wands, brooms, weapons, creatures, and authentically recreated sets like Dumbledore's office and the Gryffindor dormitory to feast your eyes on. There are even other areas that have been added recently like the Hogwarts Express and Number Four, Privet Drive that you can enter and explore.
The recommended time to complete the self-guided walking tour is a whopping three and a half hours, which may seem like a long time but is actually the bare minimum you'd want to allot to truly take in everything there is to see. It was truly astonishing to see how many things from the movies were actually created in real life, something made all the more impressive when thinking on how Hollywood uses more and more CGI elements these days. As a lifelong Harry Potter fan, I couldn't recommend taking the tour enough. Seeing the gorgeous, room-sized model of Hogwarts castle and grounds was worth the price of admission alone and may or may not have brought a tear to my Muggle eye.
