The newest Pirates of the Caribbean film is reportedly being held ransom by hackers demanding an incredible sum to keep the movie off the internet.
Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed details of the incident last Monday in a Town Hall style meeting with ABC employees, as per Deadline's report. Iger explained that the hackers were demanding a ransom and would release increments of the movie online if their demands remained unmet.
Iger declined to reveal which movie it was that had been stolen, however Deadline has reported that the film in question is Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Hostage.
The hackers are reportedly demanding that the payments are made via bitcoin and although Disney has not confirmed their stance, it seems that the company is refusing to pay. We have reached out to Disney for comment on the matter.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales releases May 26 but you can get a look at Paul McCartney's character as well as 5 of the other cast members before the film comes out.
