Deadpool: Bad Blood OGN HC - $24.99
STL032826

Writers Rob Liefeld, Chris Sims, Chad Bowers | Artist Rob Liefeld (Marvel Comics)

With Deadpool’s popularity ever on the rise, it’s no surprise that Marvel Comics recruited his co-creator Rob Liefeld to whip up the character’s first-ever original graphic novel. Teaming with scripters Chris Sims and Chad Bowers working off of Liefeld’s story outline, the Liefeld-illustrated OGN seeks to create an archenemy for the Merc with a Mouth.

While on a mission, Deadpool gets blindsided by a hulking brute who he calls Thumper, and from there we learn about their shared history -- one that ties into the early days of X-Force and provides cameos for Cable, Domino and other Liefeld creations, naturally -- and the connection they share in the present. Will Thumper become the Joker to Deadpool’s Batman? Pick up Bad Blood and judge for yourself.

Luke Cage #1 - $3.99
STL043698

Writer David Walker | Artist Nelson Blake | Cover Artist Rahzzah (Marvel Comics)

Luke Cage’s recent publication history has been a bit wobbly, but this new solo series looks like it has all the right ingredients to hit the ground running. David Walker has become the modern day voice of Luke Cage in the world of comics, and he’s teaming with excellent artist Nelson Blake to tell a story of Luke returning to New Orleans for the funeral of the man who gave him his powers, only to get caught up in a conspiracy of money, gangs and shadowy figures. Aka all the stuff we like to see Luke confront head-on with his super strength, unbreakable skin, and indomitable attitude.

Generation X #1 - $3.99
STL043685

Writer Christina Strain | Artist Amilcar Pinna | Cover Artist Terry Dodson (Marvel Comics)

Marvel’s relaunched X-Men line continues to roll out with the return of Generation X. Led by Jubilee, Gen X is a book about mutants who aren’t exactly cut out for battling Magneto and taking down the Juggernaut and such. They have mutations that do little more than make them a target for hate and harassment, making them a team of loveable losers who are just trying to make it to the next day alive. Much like original run, the series will tackle subjects that reflect on today’s youth and the struggles they deal with. meaning if you’re a millennial with antlers or extra eyes on your face, this is the book for you.

The Mighty Thor #19 - $3.99
STL043326

Writer Jason Aaron | Artist Valerio Schiti | Cover Artist Russell Dauterman (Marvel Comics)

While Marvel’s Secret Empire might have just kicked off (its second issue hits this week), the must-see event of the summer is actually the Asgard vs. Shi’ar war in the pages of The Mighty Thor. It’s been an engrossing and epic battle between factions of fantasy and sci-fi, all the while telling a tale of godly morality and delivering plot twists so crazy they gave us whiplash. It all concludes this week in a chapter featuring Odinson, the Shi’ar gods, and Quentin Quire and the Phoenix Force. Sounds like a recipe for cosmic disaster, which is why we can’t wait to read it.
