Sony has reportedly put together a wish list of several actors to star in its upcoming film adaptation of the Valiant comic, Bloodshot.
TheWrap reports five of the eight actors Sony wants to lead the movie are Jake Gyllenhaal, Oscar Isaac, Mark Wahlberg, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult. Sony is preparing to make an offer for the lead role, but the studio may not necessarily be in talks with everyone on its wish list.
Bloodshot, created by Kevin VanHook, Don Perlin, and Bob Layton in 1992, follows the story of a man who, after being brought back from dead, is infused with nanotechnology that turns him into a killing machine.
Dave Wilson will direct the film adaptation from a script by Arrival screenwriter Eric Heisserer. The movie will be produced by Fast & Furious series producer Neal Moritz, Valiant's Dinesh Shamdasani, and Toby Jaffe. Bloodshot will serve as the first entry in a series shared universe films based on Valiant's comics.
A film based on Harbinger, which centers around a group of teens on the run who have superpowers, also written by Heisserer, is set to follow. Check out IGN's interview with Heisserer to find out what the screenwriter had to say about the Bloodshot movie and Valiant's new comic series Secret Weapons.
