Pokemon Go Adventure Week Increases Odds of Finding Aerodactyl, Other Rock-types

Attack of the prehistoric Pokemon!

Niantic announced a Pokemon Go Adventure Week celebration that increases the spawn rates of Rock-type Pokemon.

Adventure Week starts at 1 p.m. PT on May 18, with festivities lasting a full week until 1 p.m. PT on May 25. Niantic specifically suggested for players to be on the look out for rare Rock-type fossil Pokemon Omanyte, Kabuto, and Aerodactyl.

To help evolve these and other rare Pokemon, buddy Pokemon will find four times as much candy as usual. More items will be rewarded at PokeStops, and Poke Balls will be half-off in the shop during the week-long event as well. Plus, everyone will get a new free accessory, the Adventure Hat.

Niantic's post said the Pokemon Go Adventure Week is meant to honor the memories players have formed on their collective journey since Pokemon Go's launch July last year. As of May 11, trainers worldwide have traveled more than 15.8 billion kilometers, a distance so vast it expands near the edge of our solar system.

Pokemon Go's last event, the Worldwide Bloom, increased the appearance of Grass-type Pokemon, but did not enhance the chances of finding any particularly rare Pokemon.
