PaRappa, Gitaroo Man Creators Launch Kickstarter


In the works for PS4 and PC.

Update: NanaOn-Sha and iNiS have launched a Kickstarter seeking $1.1 million in funding for their previously announced rhythm-based adventure game, tentatively titled Project Rap Rabbit.

According to the project's Kickstarter page, Project Rap Rabbit is in the works for both PlayStation 4 and PC, and will be an "explosive mix of Japanese folklore and traditional artwork, hip hop and humorous battle rap face-offs."

A rabbit named Toto-maru, described as simple farm boy who's able to harness the special power of force through rap," will serve as the game's main character.

The Kickstarter campaign includes a number of stretch goals. If it garners $3.1 million in funding, the team will make an Xbox One version, and if the campaign goes as high as $4.95 million, a version will be made for Nintendo Switch.

A teaser site for the new collaboration between Masaya Matsuura's studio NanaOn-Sha and Keiichi Yano's team at iNiS is now live, as well as a brief announcement trailer that you can check out below:

While details about Project Rap Rabbit are currently few and far between, the game's official Twitter account describes the project as a "story-driven, rhythm-action adventure."

In addition to PaRappa the Rapper, which was recently remastered for PS4, Matsuura also created the PlayStation rhythm game Vid-Ribbon. Meanwhile, Gitaroo Man creator Yano is also known for his work on the music-based series Ouendan.
