Nintendo has added an option to store credit / debit card information on the Switch eShop.
The often-requested change comes through the eShop's back end, meaning no system update is required, and was noticed overnight by Nintendo Everything.
There’s also a feature for parents or anyone looking for an extra layer of security. Should you decide to store your card info, you can also password-protect purchases, meaning a passkey is needed every time someone attempts to make a transaction.
Nintendo has slowly been improving the eShop since the Switch launch, adding a best-seller's chart last month.
The Switch itself has been on a roll since its launch in March. Closing out April, Nintendo revealed the hybrid console has sold through a massive 2.74 million units worldwide. Switching up targets (yes, that’s a bad pun), Nintendo expects to shift some 10 million Switch consoles over the next year, which would put the Switch on almost level-pegging with the Wii U (13.56 million lifetime sales).
The 3DS, too, has had a pretty decent run of late, selling through 7.27 million units in the last year.
Speaking of, we went hands-on with the New 2DS XL recently, saying the remodeled handheld “…might not seem all that special on the surface, but that latest revision to Nintendo’s flagship handheld has some good improvements under the hood.”
