Between September 9-12, Overwatch will be free to play on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with all 22 heroes and 13 maps available. All progress made during the free weekend, including levels, Loot Boxes, and any skins, sprays, voice lines, etc. unlocked in the Hero Gallery, will remain, so any players who choose to purchase Overwatch: Origins Edition (on the same console they demoed on) can pick up where they left off.
The free weekend begins at exactly 11am PT on September 9 and runs until 4pm PT on September 12. Blizzard has more detailed information about the Overwatch free weekend and global start times on the official Overwatch blog.
To play, PlayStation 4 users need only search "Overwatch" via the PlayStation Store on their console, select "Overwatch Free Weekend" from the results, and download. Xbox One players must have an Xbox Live Gold membership to access the free weekend, but can otherwise follow the same steps through the Xbox Store to participate. PS4 players can expect a 9GB download size, while Xbox players can expect 15GB.
Quick Play, Custom Games, and Weekly Brawls are all available during the free weekend, as well as Overwatch's training modes like Tutorial, Practice Range, and Practice vs. AI, but it does not seem Competitive Play will be accessible during this trial.
