Gotham City Sirens Director Hints at a Black Mask Villain

If the mask fits.

Director David Ayer might have just revealed the main villain of the upcoming Harley Quinn spinoff movie, Gotham City Sirens.

Ayer shared an image of longtime Batman villain Black Mask on Twitter. While this doesn't confirm Black Mask will indeed be Gotham City Sirens' main antagonist, Ayer did do a similar thing for Suicide Squad by providing our first look at Jared Leto's Joker on social media.

Black Mask made his debut in DC comics in 1985's Batman No. 386. The character is a crime boss who has an unhealthy fascination with collecting different masks...including Batman's cowl. The villain has also promptly been featured in the Batman Arkham video games.

With Catwoman confirmed to be one of the three main characters in Gotham City Sirens, Black Mask has had a tumultuous rivalry with the anti-hero in comics recently, with both characters being warring Gotham crime bosses.

Gotham City Sirens was announced late last year. Ayer returns to the DCEU to direct and produce the film with Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider reboot) penning the script and Harley Quinn star Margot Robbie executive producing. The film is also set to feature Poison Ivy partnering up with Harley Quinn and Catwoman.
