Hugh Jackman Might Still Be Wolverine If He Was an Avenger

"You never know."

Logan appears to be Hugh Jackman's final bow as Wolverine (and a very good one too), but it might not have been so if the Marvel comics universe wasn't as fragmented as it is in the movie world.

Speaking to ScreenRant, Jackman explained that, had there been a chance to appear in an Avengers movie, things might have ended differently:

"If that was on the table when I made my decision [to stop playing the character]," Jackman said, "it certainly would have made me pause. That’s for sure. Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man but there’s a lot of smarter people with MBAs who can’t figure that out [laughter]. You never know."

Fox - which owns the rights to the X-Men universe - has so far not had a movie that crosses over with Marvel's own cinematic universe.

That tide could be changing - Sony recently penned a deal allowing Spider-man to appear in several MCU films, while Fox itself has begun collaborating with Marvel on the Legion TV series.

While we may have missed our chance at seeing more of Jackman's mutton chops, there might be another iconic actor who could make the transition - Patrick Stewart has hinted that Logan might not be his last X-Men movie. Dare we dream that Professor X appears in an MCU joint?
