Update: Capcom has announced that all matchmaking functionality issues have been fixed for the Xbox One version of Monster Hunter: World.
This means that the “Matchmake”, “Filter Search”, “Squad Sessions Session” and “Respond to SOS” menu options should all now function correctly.

"Hello Hunters, we're aware of the Xbox matchmaking issues and dev team is actively investigating it, we'll update you as soon as we can," a post on the official Monster Hunter Twitter account said.
Monster Hunter World launched on January 26. Reports of matchmaking issues surfaced that day on Reddit, with a large number of Xbox One players saying they're having trouble connecting with friends online. Prior to the game's release, an open beta was held exclusively on PlayStation 4.
