Batman: Gotham City Chronicles Smashes Funding Goal

31 days still remain in the Kickstarter campaign.

The Batman: Gotham City Chronicles board game has quadrupled its Kickstarter goal of $500,000 USD in less than 24 hours.

At the time of writing, Monolith Board Games has raised $2 million USD from over 8,000 backers for its Batman-themed miniatures board game — and the Kickstarter campaign still has 31 days to go. Gotham City Chronicles is expected to ship to backers in April 2019.

While you're able to pledge any amount, the reward tiers begin at $140 USD. At this level, backers will receive the base game — one Heroes Box, one Villains Box, and a rulebook — and all unlocked stretch goals. At this time, 20 of the 21 stretch goals, which include miniatures of different Batman characters, have been unlocked.

Meanwhile, the $320 USD "all-in pledge" includes everything listed above, as well as all four optional expansions and a dice pack. Expansions include Wayne Manor, Arkham Asylum, the Batmobile, and a 1v1 game mode called Versus.

As for the game itself, Gotham City Chronicles is described as an "asymmetrical and open game system" for 2-4 players. Here's some additional information, courtesy of its Kickstarter page:

"Each game involves an action-packed fight where two sides face off. One of the players assumes the role of the Villain and controls the most notorious criminals of Gotham City. The remaining players take control of the Heroes, who must work together as a team to foil the Villain’s plots. Each side takes turns, pitting their strategies against each other in order to achieve their objectives."
