H1Z1 Launches Today With Surprise Auto Royale Mode

Battle royale... on wheels!

H1Z1 has officially launched out of Steam Early Access, complete with an entirely new mode called Auto Royale.

Auto Royale pits up to 30 teams of four in a battle where only one vehicle can be left standing. Players can find useful items like weapons, ammo, power-ups, and fuel scattered throughout a map as they eliminate the opposition.

The mode also features two new vehicles and a new weapon only available in Auto Royale. The armored recon vehicle is a stable option great for news players, while the sedan is a speedy and agile option best suited for more skilled players. The Light Machine Gun is the new weapon, and it deals more sustained damage than any other firearm in H1Z1.

Additionally, Auto Royale features a variety of new power-ups, including defensive items like repair kits and fire extinguishers, evasive drops like smoke screens and turbo boosts, and combat items like land mines and corrosive smoke. The mode is currently in beta and will evolve as the community provides feedback.

In addition to the new mode, H1Z1's launch out of Early Access brings with it a host of new features, including a refined airdrop system that increases item value and the frequency of drops, as well as the addition of a mini map, and the ability to choose where to parachute at the start of a match using a heat map that shows player spawn locations.

H1Z1's first official in-game season also kicks off with a new scoring system that rewards aggressive and consistent players. Additionally, those who purchased the game during Early Access will get a bonus in-game shirt.

Daybreak Games intends to continue updating H1Z1 with new content, including a remastered version of the popular Z1 map, as well as additional support for organized competitive play.
