Overwatch Hero 27 Announced

Hero 27 has finally been revealed.

After a series of teases, Blizzard has confirmed Overwatch Hero 27 is Brigitte Lindholm, who will be available on the PTR today.

Brigitte's strengths lie in armor and defense, including her ability to throw repair packs and use her Flail, a melee weapon allowing her to hit a number of enemies with one swing. Her full list of abilities, along with their official descriptions, include:

  • Rocket Flail – Brigitte’s melee weapon has an extended range, enabling her to strike multiple enemies with a single swing.
  • Repair Pack – Brigitte throws a Repair Pack that can heal an ally. Any healing over that ally’s maximum health provides them with armor instead.
  • Whip Shot – Brigitte throws her flail a long distance, dealing damage and knocking an enemy away from her.
  • Barrier Shield – Brigitte deploys a frontal energy barrier to absorb a limited amount of damage.
  • Shield Bash – Once her Barrier Shield is deployed, Brigitte can dash forward to stun an enemy.
  • Inspire – When Brigitte hits enemies with her flail, she also heals nearby allies over time.
  • Rally – Brigitte moves faster and provides all nearby allies with armor that lasts until it’s removed by damage.

The new hero's reveal comes after Blizzard teased a new challenger yesterday on Twitter via two images. Those images pointed to Törbjorn’s daughter and weapons specialist, Brigitte, as well as hints of a Jetpack Cat character Blizzard previously designed but never implemented into the game. Brigitte "was the first of his children to show an interest in mechanical engineering," but her interests lied more in armor creation and defensive systems rather than weapons.

A story tease before that on Twitter about Operation White Dome led many to believe the new character would be Emre Sarioglu.
