Heathers Series Premiere Delayed After Florida Shooting

No new premiere date set yet.

The series premiere for Paramount Network's TV adaptation of Heathers has been delayed following the recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

The show was originally supposed to premiere on March 7. No new release date has been set yet. Paramount Network has provided the following statement addressing the delay:

"Paramount Network’s original series Heathers is a satirical comedy that takes creative risks in dealing with many of society’s most challenging subjects ranging from personal identity to race and socio-economic status to gun violence. While we stand firmly behind the show, in light of the recent tragic events in Florida and out of respect for the victims, their families and loved ones, we feel the right thing to do is delay the premiere until later this year."

The show is based on the 1988 film of the same name and is described as a dark comedy. The story is set in the present day and follows Veronica Sawyer (Grace Victoria Cox) and Jason Dean (James Scully) going up against a trio of Heathers (Melanie Field, Brendan Scannell, and Jasmine Matthew).

The original film's story follows J.D. (Christian Slater) and Veronica Sawyer (Winona Ryder) teaming up to kill the cool kids at their school.
