Netflix is planning on producing 30 new original anime series for release next year.
The Verge reports the streaming giant plans to spend $8 billion on original content for 2018, and a sizable chunk of that will be invested in new anime. According to outlet, it appears Netflix's investment in anime has been going well in terms of viewership.
Netflix's recently released original anime series Neo Yokio is from Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig and has Jaden Smith voicing the main character. Read IGN's review of the show to find out why we found it "fails to find focus in an uninteresting parody."
The streaming service also recently debuted a live-action movie adaptation of the beloved anime and manga series Death Note. Additionally, it was recently announced that TV Tokyo and Netflix are producing a series based on the popular anime and webcomic Mob Psycho 100.
Netflix aims to release 80 original movies over the course of 2018. Earlier this month, the streaming company announced it's raising its subscription prices for users in the United States.
