Nintendo Says 3DS Sales Are Stable, Even After Switch

The handheld's holding on.

Nintendo has made a point to show that Switch sales haven't significantly impacted 3DS hardware numbers so far.

During a recent financial briefing, Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima said, "Even after Nintendo Switch sales began, sales of the Nintendo 3DS family remain stable, as you can see here." He was pointing to a graph that's showcased below.

Nintendo 3DS shipments are approaching 70 million units, according to the company. Meanwhile, the company expects Switch to outsell Wii U's lifetime total by next year.

Wii U hardware sales stand at 13.56 million units currently, with Switch already at 7.63 million.

It's not just the system that's selling well either. Nintendo noted that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has surpassed 4.7 million copies, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is more than 4.4 million and Splatoon 2 is over 3.6 million.
