All the Secrets in the Spider-Man PS4 Trailer

From Miles to Norman to Yuri, we've got you covered.

Greetings true, believers! Sony revealed a brand new trailer of Insomniac’s Spider-Man game at PSX today and it’s full of awesome story details.

The trailer opens with Mary Jane Watson and Peter Parker talking about how Wilson Fisk, AKA The Kingpin, is behind bars, and how maybe the city’s safe enough for Peter to take a break from being Spidey.

Meanwhile, Aunt May volunteers for FEAST, a homeless outreach program run by Martin Li, pictured on the cover of The Daily Bugle. Li is otherwise known as Mister Negative, who seems to be the game’s central villain. Also mentioned on the Bugle’s cover are Fisk, the Kingpin, the mayor (who we know is Norman Osborn AKA The Green Goblin), and The Shocker.

We got a look at Miles Morales, who’s also a Spider-Man, at the end of the Spider-Man E3 presentation, and here he is hanging out with Pete, helping Aunt May. It’s probably safe to assume he’ll also be helping out as Spider-Man, but so far, he’s only shown up as civilian Miles.

Norman Osborn is running for re-election as mayor, and Wilson Fisk is getting taken away from the cops. We’ve heard this game would focus on Peter as much as Spidey, but it seems like it’s doing something similar with villains, giving a closer look at the alter-egos.

Next, MJ looks at some files that say something about Devil’s Breath. In the comics, this is the name of a biological weapon which Mister Negative used to (try to) wipe out rival crime families to take over New York’s criminal underworld. (For more on that check out the The Amazing Spider-Man storyline, Brand New Day.) In the context of the game, we know the Kingpin is behind bars, so it seems like a good time for Mister Negative to make a move. Speaking of the Devil’s Breath, Peter’s Spidey-Sense tingles at Martin Li using his Mister Negative powers to wreak some havoc.

We get a lot of exciting action shots, including a scene in Grand Central Station, and a shot that looks a whole lot like MJ’s being controlled by the player, though it could just be the camera angle. Then again, the scene ends with Spidey saying, “We’ve got to play this just right”

Amidst a lot of exciting action, Spidey gets thrown through some doors that say Rosemann’s, which is probably a nod to Bill Rosemann, a 20-year Marvel vet, and the current Executive Creative Director of Marvel Games

In Peter’s apartment, there’s a poster for the wrestling match between Crusher Hogan and The Spider -- a nice nod to Pete’s short wrestling career before he began fighting crime. Finally, amidst more action scenes involving Spidey, Mister Negative, and plenty of generic goons, there’s a shot of The Shocker.

One thing we didn’t find in this trailer no matter how hard we looked was a release date, though it’s still on track for sometime in 2018. Did anything jump out at you in this trailer? Let us know in the comments below.
