Paramount is moving ahead with a film adaptation of the influential manga Lone Wolf and Club.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Justin Lin — who helmed the third through sixth Fast and Furious installments — will produce the project. He's also reportedly eyeing the director's chair for the film, which is being scripted by Seven writer Andrew Kevin Walker.
Marissa McMahon, Kamala Films, and Joshua Long are producing along with Lin. However, no release date for the movie has been set yet.
Lone Wolf and Cub was created by writer Kazuo Koike and artist Goseki Kojima back in the 1970s. The manga follows the story of a shogun’s executioner named Itto Ogami. His wife and house are killed by a clan, leaving him only with his infant son.
Itto is out for revenge and eventually trains his son Daigoro, who grows up to be a fearsome fighter too. Together, they go after the clan that murdered their family.
Lin most recently directed the third Star Trek movie. Be sure to read IGN's review of Star Trek Beyond.
