Mutant Mudds Collection for Switch Announced

Three games, including the new Mudd Blocks, in one set.

Developer Atooi has announced the Mutant Mudds Collection for the Nintendo Switch, a three-game compilation that brings the beloved platformers, plus a new game in the series, to Nintendo's latest console.

IGN can exclusively reveal that the collection, which is set for a Q4 2017 release, will include Mutant Mudds Deluxe, Mutant Mudds Super Challenge, and the brand-new puzzler Mudd Blocks. Check out the debut trailer below:

Mudd Blocks is the Collection's newest addition, as the series' protagonist Max has to take on the mutant mudd threat in block form. Throw water bombs at the mutants to get rid of them, or use multicolored mudds against themselves. Mudd Blocks offers single player, two player co-op, and two player competitive options, as well as unique modes like Numbers and Rescue.

Mudds Deluxe includes 80 platforming levels for protagonist Max to navigate his way through. An update of the 2012 original Mutant Mudds, Deluxe includes 20 remixed Ghost levels, extra levels released after the original game debuted, and mid-level checkpoints. IGN gave Mutant Mudds an 8.5 when it originally released, and Deiuxe an 8, saying it was a great starting point for new players but may not have much for seasoned Mudds fans at the time.

Inspired by Super Mario: The Lost Levels, Super Challenge ups the difficulty and picks Max's journey up right from where the first game left it off. He's learned of the original meteor crash site where mudds are still being spawned, and Max must journey his way through 40 levels and five bosses to stop the muddy menace. Super Challenge originally released in 2016.

All three games will include online leaderboards, so players can compete for the best times on platforming levels in Deluxe and Super Challenge, as well as high scores in Mudd Blocks.

Nintendo first teased Mutant Mudds would be coming to its new system in some form with a logo alongside dozens of other to-be-released indie titles earlier this year. Exclusive to Nintendo Switch, the 3-in-1 collection is set to be released this year.
