Every Upcoming Gender-Swapped TV and Movie Reboot

Ocean's Eight, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and more.

Reboots, re-imaginings, and reboot-quels have been a driving force in Hollywood for a long time, but now with the news of Shane Black's The Nice Guys, which starred Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe, being turned into a TV show with female leads and famed '70s series Kung-Fu, featuring David Carradine, getting a sequel show with a central female character, it's a good time to look at all the female-reboot shows and movies currently in the works.

This isn't just a gender-swap list -- which would include something like Channing Tatum starring in a Splash reboot -- nor is it one that features female decedents of famous (real or fictional) adventures, like Syfy's Wynonna Earp or Van Helsing (featuring descendent Vanessa). The slideshow below will take you through all the female-led reboots that are headed your way. Some are done deals, others are being developed, and a few are abandoned ideas. Check it out!

Not listed in the slideshow above is the long-gestating remake/re-adaptation of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, which is said by producer John Davis to be be "female-centric." We don't know, however, if that means that the heroes will all be famous female literary characters, the male literary characters will be turned female, or if the story will just focus on the one female characters in the League (Mina Harker) while adding a few more to the mix. We also don't know if it'll ever happen.
