7 Silliest Mortal Kombat Fatalities

Friendship.

Over two decades, Mortal Kombat has ventured into some pretty strange territory. While the series is best known for its gory fatalities, a number of zany and downright weird finishing moves were introduced with the release of Mortal Kombat 2 and its sequels. We've collected seven of the silliest fatalities, babalities, and friendships in franchise history.

Cage’s Trophy - Mortal Kombat 9

Johnny Cage's legendary self-absorption takes center stage in a gristly fatality from Mortal Kombat 9. Cage first slices his enemy's cranium and neck into two peeling, blood-spewing chunks, then ridiculously thrusts an award trophy within his foe's split head.

Cage’s Autograph - Mortal Kombat 2 & Mortal Kombat 9

Cage shows up again on our list with a duo of silly finishers. In one of the original friendship moves, Johnny Cage's Mortal Kombat 2 autograph plays on the self-parodying nature of the character. Cage's narcissism was later revisited in a Mortal Kombat 9 Babality which lampooned his original autograph gag.

Sub-Zero's Snowman - Mortal Kombat 3

Sub-Zero spends most of his time freezing and shattering his enemies into tiny shards of twitching bone and flesh. But when he's in a more playful mood, he calls on the powers of winter to grant himself a festive snowman suit and brings wintry cheer to his new best friend.

Scorpion’s Babality - Mortal Kombat 9

It's sometimes the simplest pleasures that touch our hearts most deeply. Diminutive baby Scorpion shouts "Get Over Here!" in an adorable infant lisp and launches his signature spike grapple, but his pudgy toddler legs aren't enough to handle the momentum. Poor little guy. So cute.

Kabal’s Balloon - Mortal Kombat 3

In a super-weird fatality, Kabal stretches the boundaries of human skin by inflating the head of his enemy into a cartoon balloon. His humiliated victim then drifts away on the winds of fate before popping into a cloud of bone and gore.

Stryker’s Crossing Guard - Mortal Kombat 3

Stryker was always a little too clean for the blood and grime of Mortal Kombat. His Friendship finisher in Mortal Kombat 3 plays up his boy-scout image as he takes a crossing guard stance while the rest of the Mortal Kombat cast sprints by.

Kidd Thunder - Mortal Kombat 2

A Mortal Kombat classic, Kidd Thunder is a bizarre and unexplained mini-manifestation of Raiden the Lightning God. Why does he exist? Is he the sovereign deity of tiny tornadoes and iddy-biddy lightning bolts? Why does this even exist? No one knows for sure.
