Marvel Heroes Reportedly Removing Fantastic Four Heroes

Buy them before they're possibly gone on July 1.

Marvel Heroes developer Gazillion Entertainment has reportedly lost the rights to the Fantastic Four and Silver Surfer characters, and will no longer continuing selling these characters in the game starting next month.

In a since-deleted post (captured on Google Cache) from the official Marvel Heroes forums, Gazillion announced that starting July 1, Silver Surfer, Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch and Thing will no longer be available for purchase with Gs. The time to purchase these Heroes with Eternity Splinters reportedly expired earlier today at 2pm PT.

Additionally, all of the costumes for the aforementioned characters, as well as the Future Foundation costumes for other characters will be affected. Doctor Doom, however, won't be affected, and will keep his same role in the story. See the full list of affected costumes below:

IGN has reached out to Gazillion regarding the now-deleted post and will update this story when they respond.

While the studio's renewed licensing agreement doesn't allow for the sale of these characters starting July 1, players who already own the Heroes and their costumes will still have access to them as they do now, according to the now deleted post. The achievements for Silver Surfer and Fantastic Four will also remain, but you'll need the Heroes to unlock them. Gazillion also plans to support the characters with new Omega items, as well as updates for tuning and bug fixes.

Earlier this month, Marvel unveiled the 52-book lineup that will be part of its Legacy relaunch, and Fantastic Four is not featured in any significant capacity. In fact, there hasn't been a dedicated Fantastic Four comic in over two years, since the beginning of Secret Wars.

While it's possible Marvel is giving Fantastic Four less attention in the comics because it doesn't own the movie rights, the team-up series Marvel Two-in-One will apparently feature the adventures of Johnny Storm and Benjamin Grimm.
