PSVR Sales Are 'On Track,' According to Sony

Though no specific sales numbers were given.

Less than a month after its October 13 release, Sony reported today that PlayStation VR sales are where the company expected them to be.

Speaking during an earnings briefing for the second quarter of 2016 (via GameSpot), Kenichiro Yoshida, Sony's Chief Financial Officer, said sales of the company's new headset are "on track."

While that doesn't specify any specific sales numbers, the President and Chief Executive at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, Jim Ryan, told CNBC last month Sony expects to sell "hundreds of thousands" units at launch.

Furthermore, based on recent statements Sony has released in the past, it stands to reason the peripheral is doing fairly well for the company. At launch, Sony was already selling PlayStation VR at a profit. Market research company SuperData Research has estimated the headset will sell more than two million units by the end of 2016.
