Brad Peyton, the director of New Line's upcoming Rampage movie, has revealed which monstrous creatures will be featured in the video game-inspired film adaptation.
In an interview with We Got This Covered, Peyton expressed his excitement for the film, confirming it will feature the same classic trio of monsters from the original game. "There’s the three, the lizard, the ape and the wolf, so we’re keeping it similar," he said.
The director cited his "love of the original game" as the source of inspiration for Rampage, a film that he believes "is really going to surprise people in what it delivers," much like Peyton's prior disaster/drama movie San Andreas.
"It’s going to be a lot more emotional, a lot scarier and a lot more real than you’d expect," he added, highlighting the core story concept, which centers around "a lab that affects these animals and makes them rampage."
Peyton also mentioned his upcoming film Incarnate, saying the work he did on the "small, character piece with horror" helped prepare him for Rampage. "Obviously, it's a much bigger movie and it's meant for a broader audience, but there's still horror elements, there’s still a monster movie at the core," he added.
Carlton Cuse and Ryan Condal penned the upcoming adaptation, having finished their rewrite for Rampage back in August. The film will star Dwayne Johnson, with Beau Flynn on board as producer.
