Peyton Reed Disappointed Giant-Man Debuted in Civil War

"I've since recovered."

Ant-Man director Peyton Reed recently shared his thoughts on sharing Scott Lang with other MCU films, admitting he wasn't all too enthused about Giant-Man making his grand debut in Captain America: Civil War.

"Again, that is one of the sort of things where it's a mixed bag" Reed told Moviefone when asked what it's like to share characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "When I first found out... that Civil War was going to get the Giant-Man premiere, I was like 'No!' But, now, I've since recovered," he said.

The director went on to tease what lies ahead for Scott Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp, saying they have "a lot more in store" for Marvel's tiniest hero.

With regard to Evangeline Lily's highly anticipated debut as the Wasp, Peyton said he's "just personally excited" to bring another iconic Marvel hero to the big screen and all that comes with it: "designing her look, the way she moves, the power set, and figuring out, sort of, who Hope van Dyne is as a hero."

As far as how the sequel is progressing, Peyton said they're currently in the writing phase and looking to begin "official prep" before December. "It's sort of long-lead prep," he explained, adding that they're "starting to get into all of the visual development stuff, and it's really exciting."

Ant-Man and the Wasp opens in theaters on July 6, 2018, with filming set to begin sometime next year.
