Samsung to Reportedly Recall Galaxy Note 7

The results of Samsung's investigation and planned course of action will be announced this weekend or early next week.

After receiving reports of charging issues with the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung Electronics is expected to announce a recall of its new mobile device.

According to Yonhap News Agency, a Samsung official has said the recall is due to issues with a battery issue in the Galaxy Note 7 that—in a few instances—is causing the device to explode while being charged.

According to the official, who wished to remain anonymous, Samsung is planning to announce the results of its investigation and how it plans to handle the issue this weekend or early next week.

"Products installed with the problematic battery account for less than 0.1 percent of the entire volume sold," the official told Yonhap News Agency. "The problem can be simply resolved by changing the battery, but we'll come up with convincing measures for our consumers."

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 released last month on August 19. For more on Samsung's current line of mobile devices, check out IGN's impressions of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
