Ahead of a showcase of the mode at PAX West this weekend, Xbox and The Coalition have revealed new details about Gears of War 4's Horde Mode 3.0.
Horde Mode 3.0, teased earlier this week as part of IGN First's look at the upcoming sequel, will see the return of five player co-op as players battle 50 waves of Swarm and DeeBees, with boss challenges coming every 10 waves. A new class-based system is being introduced as part of 3.0, letting players choose from five roles: soldier, sniper, scout, heavy, and engineer.
A "Fabricator" option is also being added to the mode, which allows defenses to be built anywhere on the map, as opposed to before, when items like turrets, weapons, and other defenses in static locations.
Horde 3.0 will also se Gear Cards to allow players to add bonsues to their character, such as improving the damage of specific weapons or allowing a character to carry more ammunition.
Horde Mode 3.0 will be spotlighted at PAX West, which runs from September 2 - 5, in addition to new info on the multiplayer mode Arms Race.
The game's developers recently spoke to IGN about how the game is being balanced for controller first, and we recently learned more about what to expect from Marcus Fenix in Gears of War 4.
