Those in attendance at today's The Walking Dead panel at New York Comic Con were treated to a scene from the Season 8 premiere.
As reported by IGN comics editor Joshua Yehl, who was in attendance at the panel, the scene opens during the day with Carl (Chandler Riggs) scouring an abandoned gas station in search of supplies. When he hears the voice of a man nearby, Carl draws his gun and slowly explores the area while the man proceeds to tell a creepy story about his mother teaching him manners.
Carl then gets down on the ground to look underneath the cars in the area and sees what appears the be the foot of a man. After rising to his feet, he approaches from around the corner with caution as the screen cuts to black just as he turns to face the man and see his identity.
According to executive producer David Alpert, the scene was shot in exactly the same manner as it had been in a previous episode, but refrained from specifying which one. Alpert has previously noted that, with the Season 8 premiere being the 100th episode, there will be plenty of throwbacks like this for eagle-eyed viewers.
During the panel, it was also confirmed by Robert Kirkman that The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead will indeed crossover sometime in the future.
Season 8 of The Walking Dead will premiere on October 22. Check out IGN's interview with Jesus actor Tom Payne for an idea of what lies ahead in the action-packed 100th episode, and find out what the cast and crew recently had to say about the milestone episode.
