The Punisher Pulled From NYCC Due to Las Vegas Shooting

Marvel and Netflix made the announcement in a joint statement.

Marvel and Netflix will no longer hold a panel at this year's New York Comic Con promoting their Punisher series in light of the recent tragic events in Las Vegas.

"We are stunned and saddened by this week’s senseless act in Las Vegas," the companies said in a joint statement. "After careful consideration, Netflix and Marvel have decided it wouldn’t be appropriate for Marvel’s The Punisher to participate in New York Comic Con. Our thoughts continue to be with the victims and those affected by this tragedy."

Earlier this week, a gunman fired into a crowd and Las Vegas, killing at least 59 people and injuring hundreds of others. Marvel's The Punisher focuses on Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), a gun-wielding vigilante, so the sensitive move is unsurprising. The NYCC panel for The Punisher was expected to run for an hour and a half on October 7th.
