Old Man Logan Prequel Features Old Man Hawkeye

The first of twelve issues will be released in January.

An Old Man Logan prequel comic series featuring Hawkeye has been announced.

New York Daily News reports the 12-issue miniseries, titled Old Man Hawkeye, takes place five years before the events of Old Man Logan and centers around the titular Marvel hero. Hawkeye, with his eyesight still intact, will go on one last journey fighting villains like Venom.

Old Man Hawkeye is being written by Daily News reporter Ethan Sacks and illustrated by Marco Chechetto (Star Wars: Captain Phasma). The first issue will be released in January. Check out the cover art for the first issue below.

"In this story he's losing his vision and that sort of forces him to confront something really horrible that happened to him personally 45 years ago, and go on his own hero's journey while he still can," said Sacks. "It’s very much like a ticking clock that’s forcing him into action."

Hawkeye served as Logan/Wolverine's partner in Old Man Logan, which came back in 2008. The skilled archer had already gone blind due to cataracts in that story.

James Mangold's film Wolverine movie Logan, which was released in theaters earlier this year, takes heavy inspiration from Old Man Logan. For IGN's thoughts on the film, read our review of Logan.
